Chastity is about anticipation, trust and play. Starting slowly is what keeps it fun.

Whether you're exploring on your own or with a partner holding the key, a little preparation makes a big difference. Here's everything we'd tell a friend before their first cage.

What you'll need

  • A beginner-friendly cage: a rounded cage with several ring sizes, like our Black or Pink Rounded Cage Set.
  • A support harness (optional, but it helps): takes the weight off the ring and stops the cage pulling. The Adjustable Support Harness is a simple place to start.
  • Water-based lube: makes putting it on far easier.
  • A plan for the key: more on that below.

Not sure of your size? Read our Chastity Cage Sizing guide first.

Putting it on

Do it when you're relaxed and fully soft; a cool room helps. Put the ring on first, one testicle at a time, then your shaft. Slide the cage over, line it up with the ring and lock it. A little lube on the ring and inside the cage tip makes it much easier. If it isn't going, stop, cool down and try again later. Forcing it is never worth it.

Building up wear time

Your body needs time to get used to a cage. A sensible starting plan:

  • First few days: one to two hours, at home, while you're awake.
  • First week or two: build up to a full day, still taking it off at night.
  • After that: overnight wear once days feel completely comfortable.

Morning and night-time erections are normal and will be uncomfortable at first. That's part of the experience, but it shouldn't be painful. If it is, take a break.

Keeping clean

Take the cage off to wash it and yourself properly at least every day or two while you're starting out. Use warm water and mild, unscented soap, rinse well and let everything dry fully before putting it back on. Most rubbing and irritation comes from trapped moisture, so drying properly matters.

Who holds the key?

Part of the fun is handing over control. You can give the key to a partner, wear it on a Love Heart Key Necklace, or use a timed or app-controlled key box like the LOCKINK Smart Key Box for solo play. Whatever you choose, always have an emergency key you can get to. Spare keys and locks cost very little and give you real peace of mind.

Playing with a partner

Talk before you lock. Agree how long, what happens with the key, a safe word, and what "unlock now" looks like if something doesn't feel right. Check in often for the first few sessions. The best chastity play is built on trust, and that's easiest to build when both of you know the boundaries.

When you're ready for more

Once a rounded cage feels like second nature, there's plenty to explore: snugger flat cages, full-coverage chastity plates, and accessories like the Remote Vibrating Plug Attachment. Have a browse through the full Chastity collection.

Every order is shipped in plain, discreet packaging.

Safety: remove your cage straight away if you notice numbness, tingling, swelling, skin turning dark or cold, or pain that doesn't settle. Don't wear a cage overnight until you've worn it comfortably for full days, and always keep an emergency key within reach.
