Plug training is all about patience. Go slowly and it stays comfortable, relaxed and a lot more fun.

Training sets let your body get used to a plug gradually, moving up one size at a time over days or weeks. Here's how to start well.

What you'll need

  • A training set: several sizes of the same shape, so each step up is small. Try the Butt Plug Set (5 Sizes), the Heart Plug Training Set or the jewelled Classic Gem Plug Set.
  • Plenty of lube: your body doesn't make its own here. Water-based lube is safe with every material. Avoid silicone lube on silicone toys, as it can damage the surface.
  • Time and privacy: rushing is what makes it uncomfortable.

Why the base matters

Only ever use toys with a flared base or a stopper designed for anal use. The body can draw objects inwards, and a proper base is what keeps the toy where it should be. Every plug we sell is designed with this in mind.

Your first session

Start with the smallest size, even if you think it's too small. Get comfortable, lie on your side or back, take a few slow breaths and relax. Apply lube generously to the plug and to yourself. Press gently and let your body open in its own time. Pushing slightly as if you're going to the toilet can help.

Once it's in, the narrow neck sits just inside and the base rests outside. It might feel strange at first. That's normal and it eases. Sharp pain isn't normal: if you feel it, stop.

How long to wear it

  • To begin with: 10 to 15 minutes is plenty.
  • As you get comfortable: build up to 30 minutes to an hour.
  • Longer wear: stick to a few hours at most, and take breaks.

When to size up

Move to the next size only when the current one goes in easily and feels comfortable for your full session, ideally across several sessions. That might take a few days or a few weeks. There's no prize for getting there fast, and going back down a size is completely fine.

Cleaning and care

Wash your plug before and after every use with warm water and mild, unscented soap or a toy cleaner, and let it dry fully. Store each piece separately so the surfaces don't get scratched. If you're sharing, use a condom on the plug or clean it thoroughly between partners.

Taking it further

Once you're comfortable, there's lots to try: tail plugs for play and dress-up, the Remote Vibrating Plug Attachment, or the hands-free Remote Thrusting Prostate Massager. See everything in Anal Toys.

Every order is shipped in plain, discreet packaging.

Safety: only use toys with a flared base. Use plenty of lube, never force anything, and stop if you feel sharp pain. If you notice bleeding or pain that doesn't go away, stop and speak to a doctor or sexual health clinic.
